There is a significant difference between pure cloud software – multi-tenanted applications built on cloud platforms from the ground up – and what we call fake cloud software that’s hosted on a “cloud” server. These fake cloud applications may have a web browser interface, but they are still ultimately installed applications with all of the legacy issue associated with installed applications. Often the “cloud” label means it’s simply on a managed server or virtual machine instead of being on your server in your office.
